Woodlawn Heights
On the border of Yonkers and the Bronx, and neighboring McClean Heights in Yonkers, Woodlawn Heights is within the Woodlawn section of the Bronx which has traditionally been an Irish neighborhood. However, a small part of Woodlawn, Woodlawn Heights, can constitute an Italian enclave especially from the late 70’s until the early 2000’s, specifically along McLean Avenue which was home to some Italian American businesses over the years. This demographic construct is very similar to Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Bay Ridge was mostly Irish and Scandinavian, but the Italian diaspora trickled into the neighborhood creating a small enclave community of Italians.
