Borough Park

Borough Park used to have a dense Italian community, but there is still a presence. Borough Park is bordered by Kensington, Mapleton, Bensonhurst, Dyker Heights, and Sunset Park. On the corner of 14th Avenue and 63rd Street was Santa Rosalia Church, sold by the Brooklyn Diocese a couple of years before the pandemic due to financial struggles. It was the sister church to the Basilica of Regina Pacis, creating the problem of funding two churches at once. Since the 1980’s, Borough Park has had a predominantly Italian population; however, the demographic has started to shift, seeing more of a Jewish presence. Notable Italian establishments in Borough Park that are still in service are Savarese Italian Pastry Shoppe and D. Coluccio & Sons.
