East Williamsburg
Just under the northernmost point of Brooklyn, East Williamsburg is bordered by Greenpoint, Kosciuszko Bridge, Bushwick, Williamsburg, Ridgewood (Queens, New York), and Newton Creek. The main wave of Italian immigration to East Williamsburg was during the late 1800’s to early 1900’s, where opportunities in industrialization caught their attention. This neighborhood was split between Puerto Ricans on the south end of Graham Avenue “Avenue of Puerto Rico” and Italians on the north end “Via Vespucci”, the sides being split by Grand Street. East Williamsburg, naturally being a small neighborhood with electrical industrial plants taking up a decent portion of its land, doesn’t have many Italian establishments compared to some other parts of Brooklyn; however, East Williamsburg is home to St Nicholas Roman Catholic Church and Our Lady of the Rosary of Pompei Church.
