Park Slope

Park Slope no longer has an Italian enclave but at one time there was a thriving Italian community here, mostly from the late 1800’s all the way until the mid-1900’s. Some families remain today or others still own properties or businesses there. Mostly, the Italian section of Park Slope was mostly from Sackett Street to 9th Street between 4th and 7th avenues. The Italians in this neighborhood were from an assortment of places but many came from Naples or the surrounding towns. There was no Italian national parish in Park Slope so the Catholics would attend Our Lady of Peace in neighboring Gowanus. Park Slope is bordered by Gowanus, Sunset Park and Prospect Heights.
