Pelham Gardens

Pelham Gardens- is really part of Allerton. Its boundaries, starting from the north and moving clockwise are East Gun Hill Road to the north and east, Pelham Parkway to the south, and the IRT Dyre Avenue Line (5 train) to the west. The area was primarily Italian and Jewish until the 1970’s when the area saw a large change to the demographic of the area, which is now mostly Hispanic and African American overall. However, since the neighborhood is home to many blocks of one and two-story residential single-family homes, there are large portions of the neighborhood which are still occupied by Italian residents amongst Irish and German; all of whom constitute 25% of the neighborhoods makeup.
