East New York
City Line and New Lots are the names of the neighborhoods in East New York that were Italian enclaves in the beginning and mid-20th century. East New York is on the Brooklyn Queens border and borders Ozone Park, Brownsville, and Cypress Hills. City Line’s Italian National Parish was St. Rita and New Lot’s Italian National Parish was Saint Fortunata. Both churches remain opened and serve the communities that inhabit these neighborhoods since the Italians left in the 70’s and 80’s. East New York is a residential neighborhood in the eastern section of the borough of Brooklyn in New York City, United States. Its boundaries, starting from the north and moving clockwise, are roughly the Cemetery Belt and the Queens borough line to the north; the Queens borough line to the east; Jamaica Bay to the south, and the Bay Ridge Branch railroad tracks and Van Sinderen Avenue to the west.
