Gravesend
Within Gravesend, there is an Italian neighborhood that borders Bensonhurst, Bath Beach, Home Crest, Sheepshead Bay, and Coney Island. These surrounding neighborhoods all had huge Italian populations, more so Bath Beach and Bensonhurst. The main commercial avenue in Gravesend is Avenue U. Avenue U still has many Italian businesses in the “west streets.” There are also some Italian businesses in the lower “east streets” as well. The neighborhood’s Italian national parish is Our Lady Of Grace. A&S Porkstore on Ave X is a notable business remaining in Gravesend. Gravesend is a neighborhood in the south-central section of the New York City borough of Brooklyn, on the southwestern edge of Long Island in the U.S. state of New York. It is bounded on the south by Coney Island, on the west by Bath Beach, on the north by Bensonhurst, and on the east by Homecrest and Sheepshead Bay.
