Greenwich Village

Greenwich Village is on the West Side of Manhattan, bordered by Chelsea, Meatpacking District, NoHo, and SoHo. There were over 50,000 Italian immigrants that settled around Washington Square Park that came in between the 1880s and the 1920s. Many of these Italian immigrants either opened businesses or worked in manufacturing, as the Industrial Revolution in the United States was spreading at a much faster pace compared to that of Italy, giving attraction to the opportunity offered in the United States. Noteworthy Italian establishments include Monte’s Trattoria and Villa Mosconi Restaurant.
