Weirton

The “North End” of Weirton was full of Italian immigrants early on in its existence. They had their own Italian Catholic Church, along with a place known as the Garibaldi Hall, a center of community life. Many businesses were located in the area, and despite the fact that there is still a strong Italian presence in the community today, it is no longer as centralized as it once was. In modern times, still, there is a connection between Weirton and Italy – in 2020 an Italian manufacturing company chose its new plant site to be located in the town, continuing to foster a relationship between the two places.
