Pueblo
Within the very diverse city of Pueblo of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, known as the “Ellis Island of the West”, existed a large Italian community, primarily within the Bessemer neighborhood south of the Arkansas River. Though the neighborhood now has a large highway running through the former center of it and is primarily Hispanic, remnants still remain. Eateries such as La Tronica’s, Gagliano’s and Ianne’s, along with others, serve the community to this day and are widely loved by all patrons.
