Seattle – Garlic Gulch
The large Italian community known as Garlic Gulch was home to thousands of Italians in its heyday, though it now has nearly no connection to its past as a Little Italy. It was served by Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church which was built for the Italian community in 1913 with Father Ludovico Caramello helping to shape it into the community center it became, where it was the center of the neighborhood for decades before closing doors in 2022. Many years later, the final few original businesses have shut down as a product of the pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, yet the community continues to exist strongly in the minds of former residents and descendants.
