Arthur Avenue

Arthur Avenue is a street in Belmont neighborhood of the Bronx, New York City, which serves as the center of the Bronx’s ‘Little Italy’. It is bound by Lorillard Place to the West, Southern Boulevard to the east, 183rd street to the south and Fordham road to the north. Arthur Avenue has an Italian immigrant heritage that dates back to the 1850’s, hence the name ‘little Italy’. Our Lady of Mount Carmel’s church is one of the oldest Italian Catholic Church under the authority of the Roman Catholic archdiocese of New York. Ferragosto is an Italian festival hosted in Arthur Avenue that goes back centuries.
